Vishakapatanam: Navy Day celebration will be conducted in Vishakapatanam today at RK beach. The function will be extended for two and half hours. President Draupadi Murmu will be the chief guest in the programme. Governor Biswabhushan Haricharan will also be part of the event. The event will be hosted by the chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar and several other state and central dignitaries will attend the function.
Indian Navy ships, aircraft and special forces from the Eastern and Western Naval Commands will participate in the exercise. 15 naval warships and submarines will be there. The program will conclude with the performance of anchored ships. INS Tarangini, INS Jalashwa will also participate in the programme.
Navy Day is being celebrated in the memory of the Indian Navy’s victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. For the first time this year, the Navy Day celebration is being organized outside Delhi. The celebratory programs aim to create maritime awareness among citizens and highlight the contribution of navy to national security.
