Idukki: Mullaperiyar dam may open due to the rise in the water level. The spillway shutters are likely to be opened when the water level approaches the maximum storage capacity. The Idukki district administration issued a warning.
Tamil Nadu has issued the first warning after the water level reached 140 feet. Maximum storage capacity is 142 feet. At present the water level is 140.10 feet. About 3,000 cubic feet of water flowed into the dam per second.
The figures indicate that the water flow has now reduced. 511 cubic feet of water flows into the dam per second. The volume of water transported by Tamil Nadu is 511 cubic feet. Heavy rain continues in the catchment area.
