Festival of democracy; PM casts his vote in the Gujarat Assembly election

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi casted his vote at the polling station in Ahmedabad in the second phase of the Gujarat assembly elections. The Prime Minister arrived at Nishan High School polling station situated in Ranip area of ​​Ahmedabad city around 9.30 am to mark his right to vote. The PM had casted his vote after standing in the queue for some time.

After greeting the locals who came to receive him in front of the polling station, the Prime Minister also raised his inked finger. He then visited the house of his brother Soma Modi who lives near the polling station. While talking to the media, Modi thanked the Election Commission. “Voters in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi celebrated this festival of democracy with great enthusiasm and hope. I congratulate the people who came to cast their votes and the Election Commission for conducting the election in such a grand manner,” said Modi

In the second phase of the Gujarat elections, 833 candidates from 61 political parties, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, from 93 assembly constituencies spread across Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Gandhinagar. The first phase of polling for 89 seats in Saurashtra, Kutch and South Gujarat regions was held on 1st  December, with an average voting turnout of 63.31 percent. The counting will be held on 8 December.
