Thiruvananthapuram: The death of a young woman years ago has been proved as murder. After nine years, the crime branch investigation revealed the details of the death, which was thought to be a suicide. Police arrested the woman’s husband in the incident.
The death of Ashwathi, a native of Nemam, was proved to be a murder. The accused was arrested by the police when it was found that her husband Ratheesh was the killer. The police initially found that Ashwathi had set herself on fire by pouring kerosene. Although her husband Ratheesh was burnt, it was believed to have happened while he was trying to save Ashwathi. The body of the woman was found burnt inside the house.
But after Ashwathi’s family filed a complaint that they have a doubt in the death, the Crime Branch took over the investigation. Then it became clear to the investigation team that Ratheesh had killed his wife by pouring kerosene on her and setting her on fire.
