Walayar: Vigilance arrested motor vehicle department officials for accepting bribes from Sabarimala pilgrims. Rupees 7200 collected as bribe from the motor vehicle department (MVD) were seized during the inspection conducted in Walayar yesterday. Videos of MVD officials accepting bribes from drivers have. It is reported that MVD collected bribes from devotees who arrived from the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. The devotees paid hundred, two hundred and five hundred rupees out of fear. The officials said that they will seal the documents only after paying the money.
The Vigilance officers, impersonating as Ayyappa devotees, conducted an inspection. As per the reports, the Vigilance officers said that the MVD collected a huge amount from the Lord Ayyappa devotees within these few days.
