Alappuzha: A local holiday has been declared for four taluks of Alappuzha district on Wednesday on the occasion of Chakkulathukav Pongala. Holiday for Kuttanad, Chengannur, Mavelikara and Tiruvalla taluks. The holiday will be applicable to government institutions and educational institutions. The holiday will not be applicable for Public Examinations.
Liquor shops will be closed on the backdrop of Pongala. Liquor shops will remain closed till 3 pm on Wednesday. Toll shops at Kuttanad range and beverages outlet at Takazhi will not be opened.
