Thiruvananthapuram: Minister J. Chinchu Rani said that there is no crisis in rabies vaccination in the state. All steps have been taken to administer the preventive vaccine. The Minister said in the Assembly that the Animal Protection Department is considering to fix chips in stray dogs that have been vaccinated.
Rabies vaccination is ongoing. Since September 20, 11,661 stray dogs have been vaccinated. 18 ABC centers are functioning in the state. Necessary steps have been taken to make it 37. Sterilization work has been started in the entire corporation in the state. 1014 stray dogs were sterilized at the panchayat level.
There is difficulty in catching street dogs. 506 dog catchers were trained in the state. Also training is being given to around 500 people. The minister stated that 24 deaths have occurred due to stray dog bites in the state.
