Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced that three districts have been put on high alert as Cyclone Mandous approached the coast of Tamil Nadu. The state started taking precautionary measures and deployed the Disaster Response Force. The cyclone, which is currently blowing a speed of 75 kmph, has been warned that it will reach a speed of 85 kmph today.
In Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpet, Villupuram and Kanchipuram districts, sea waves are getting stronger. Those living in the coastal areas have been instructed to shift to the temporary camps. Although there is indication that the strength of the wind will decrease within two days, the fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. At present, those who have gone to sea have been informed to keep in touch with the Coast Guard.
Along with Tamil Nadu, the cyclone will hit the Union Territory of Puducherry and South Andhra Coast. The presence of cyclonic wind is expected in Sriharikota and Mahabalipuram region in the coming days.
