Shimla; Former Congress state president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has been elected as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. The decision was taken by the High Command. The decision was left to Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge as others could not find a person acceptable to everyone for the post of Chief Minister.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, a close associate of Rahul Gandhi, will be elevated to the post of Chief Minister, after surpassing the party state president Pratibha Singh and Mukesh Agnihotri. After Sukhwinder Singh was confirmed as the next Chief Minister, Pratibha Singh’s supporters have started protesting in front of the hotel where the leaders are staying. They are protesting by raising the slogan of making Pratibha the Chief Minister. Pratibha, who is the MP of Mandi, had lost her chances of becoming the Chief Minister earlier because she was not an MLA. After this information came out, the workers who camped in front of the hotel started protesting.
Pratibha Singh had earlier claimed that the Congress cannot forget the legacy of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and that he has the support of 15 MLAs. The activists declared their support for Pratibha by blocking the vehicle of AICC observer Bhupesh Bhagal. But all these efforts turned to be meaningless when Sukhvinder Singh, Rahul Gandhi’s nominee and critic of Virbhadra Singh, became the Chief Minister. This decision could definitely lead to a big explosion in the Himachal Congress.
