Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that rainfall will accelerate in the state in the coming hours. Yellow alert has been issued in 11 districts. There is a change in the alert for the upcoming days too.
Yellow alert has been imposed in places except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts. Although no alert has been issued, other districts will also receive rain. The IMD has informed that people should be cautious at the time of heavy rains. Earlier, five districts received warning.
Seven districts ,Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram received yellow alerts on Monday. The rain will subside by Tuesday. In this situation only Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki districts have received alert notifications.
Strong winds are also possible along with the rain. A warning has been issued to fishermen and is advised to stop venturing till Tuesday.
