Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Government is all set to initiate the development projects of Kerala. Development projects worth Rs. 40,453 crore will begin today. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate 12 national highway development projects. The inaugural event will be held at the Travancore International Convention Centre Sports Hub, Kariavattom.
The development projects of 403 km are being implemented by the National Highways Authority of India. The road construction will be done under the BharatMala scheme. In addition to the proposed Vizhinjam-Paripally outer road, the construction of five new bypasses will also start soon. 66,000 crore for NH 66 alone and 86,000 crore for other roads.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will preside over the function. Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways General VK Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muralidharan, State Public Works Minister PA Muhammad Riaz and others will also participate in the function.
