Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has again slammed the hooch tragedy. Those who consume fake liquor will die, Nitish reiterated to media. CM’s response comes amid the allegations on the State’s failure in the excise policy.
Several people in the State got benefits from the liquor ban policy. Many even left drinking alcohol. People welcomed the new policy with great interest. But there are some trouble makers. Police are directed to nab such people manufacturing liquor and carrying out alcohol businesses, said CM Nitish Kumar.
Bihar CM also added that those who produce liquor and those who sell, has to be identified. I am ready to give Rs. one lakh to those people. But no one should involve in the liquor sale, added Nitish Kumar.
When people died last time consuming adulterated liquor, there were demands that their families must be given financial assistance. If someone drinks fake liquor, they will die. We have examples before us, said the Chief Minister.
Nitish Kumar Government banned selling and consuming liquor in the year 2016. Several hooch tragedies occured in the State after the ban, Chhapra hooch tragedy being the last one. 39 people have lost lives in the tragedy. When opposition party BJP had raised the issue in the Assembly, Nitish Kumar’s response was that some drunkards have invited the tragedy.
