Chennai: A raid was conducted at the house of Umar Sharif (42), a native of Nelpetta, an auto driver in Madurai this morning. During the search, deadly weapons including a machete and a knife were recovered from the house of the former PFI worker.
The raid was conducted by a three-member team led by NIA Inspector Arul Mahesh. It is reported that Umar Sharif is now in NIA custody. His wife and family are being interrogated.
The raid is being conducted in connection with the cooker bomb blasts and the car blasts near the temple in Karnataka. Following the raid, the police have imposed a high alert in the area.
