Valencia: Indian team wins pro league women’s hockey qualifier with international teams. The Indian women defeated Spain by a single goal in the final. With this, the Indian team will compete in the 2023-24 Federation of International Hockey Pro League.
The Women’s FIH Nations Cup was won by the Indian Women’s team who entered the Pro League Qualifiers. The players filled the field with full confidence and won without giving any chance to the opponents to score.
India scored a goal in the first quarter of the game. Gurjit Kaur scored in the 5th minute. The penalty against Spain was converted into a goal. Although Spain advanced strongly in the first quarter, captain Savita Punia saved a goal. Savita cleverly blocked Spain’s accurate penalty shot. It was Indian captain Savita Punia who also shone in the shootout against Ireland in the semi-final.
