Thiruvananthapuram: A high-level meeting was called today by the Chief Minister to take further steps on the buffer zone issue. The meeting is at 3 pm. The position to be taken in the Supreme Court will be discussed in the meeting. Along with submission of satellite survey reports, permission will be sought to provide field reports containing personal information. Apart from this, the expert committee meeting fixed by the government will also be held today. Extension of time limit for filing complaint will be discussed in satellite survey report.
An inspection led by village officers will begin today to find out the issues in the buffer zone satellite survey that was held in Idukki district. It will also check whether the survey numbers marked on the map are areas adjacent to forest boundaries, borders of protected forest areas, densely populated areas, etc. A team of Village Officer, Panchayat Secretary, Forest Department Officer nominated by DFO will conduct the inspection.
The District Collector has requested that the inspection should be completed within three days and the report must also be submitted. The village officers of the villages where complaints have been received regarding the buffer zone issue have been asked to conduct the inspection.
