Thiruvananthapuram: A record of liquor worth Rs 56 crore was sold in Kerala on Qatar World Cup final day. Through this BEVCO’s income of 21 crore has increased within a single day.
On other days BEVCO sells liquor worth Rs 35 crore. On Sundays it reaches up to 40 crores. But last Sunday, on the day of the World Cup final, there was an increase of 21 crore rupees. Bars bought liquor worth Rs 6 crores from the warehouse on Saturday. Other than this, BEVCO and Consumer Fed’s outlets’ calculations also came out.
Even though the price of liquor has been increased, the figures say that Kerala consumed liquor in such a way that it was not affected at all. It has been increased from Rs.10 to Rs.20. The price increase for foreign liquor is two percent. The Kerala government has increased the price of Indian-made foreign liquor and beer. The price hike is part of the sales tax hike.
