Gangtok: Army truck accident in Sikkim kills 16 soldiers. The tragedy happened in Sema in North Sikkim. The truck that was going to Thangu met with an accident.
The accident took place when the vehicle in which the soldiers were traveling slipped and fell into a ravine near Sema, 130 km from Gangtok (capital of Sikkim), near the India-China border. The truck fell into a ravine more than 100 feet deep while crossing a curve in the Sema 3 area.
It is reported that 16 soldiers died on the spot. Four seriously injured soldiers have been admitted to hospital. The injured soldiers were taken to a military hospital in North Bengal by helicopter. The bodies of the martyred soldiers will be shifted to a hospital in Gangtok for post-mortem. After this, the bodies will be handed over to the army.
