Mirpur: Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer came to the crease as saviours when the game was out of hand. Both remained unbeaten at the crease till they finally won the game. India won the second Test against Bangladesh and attained the series 2-0.
When the match resumed on Sunday, India was 45 in the loss of four wickets. The loss of three wickets while adding 29 runs on the scoreboard caused tension in the Indian camp. Unadkat, Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel all left India at 74 for 7. Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin came to the crease when they thought they would not see three figures.
The duo put on an unbeaten partnership of 71 runs for the eighth wicket to lead India to victory. Ashwin (42) and Shreyas (29) scored runs. Ashwin hit two fours and a six in the 47th over bowled by Mehdi Hasan that sped up India’s victory. Ashwin is the star of the game and Cheteshwar Pujara has been selected as the star of the series.
