Thiruvananthapuram: Candles were lit up to mark Christmas celebration at Sree Padmanabha temple. Some people lit up candles at Thulabhara Mandapam. Last day’s pooja was booked by Ramachandra Moorthy, native of Vijayawada.
It is suspected that some members of this team had lit up candles at the temple. Devotees expressed their concern over the attempt to violate rituals at the temple and told that it is mysterious to lit the candles at the temple, the place where each an everything is strictly monitored and thoroughly checked.
Devotees are allowed to enter the temple after strict inspection. Hence, the question how candles were brought along with the materials for the offerings, remains unanswered.
Meanwhile the authorities explained that chirath/diya model candles were lit up at the temple.
