Malappuram: Karipur airport has become a hub for gold smuggling. Gold was captured again. The youth was taken into custody by the police. Mustafa, a native of Tirupur, was arrested. 636 grams of gold worth Rs 35 lakh was seized from his possession. He tried to smuggle the gold in the form of capsules and hide it inside the body.
He was caught by the police when he came out of the airport after the customs check. The police had received a tip-off that he was smuggling gold. After this, Mustafa who was taken into custody was interrogated, but Mustafa denied that he had smuggled gold. After this, an X-ray examination was being done and the gold was found. This is the third consecutive day that gold has been seized from the Karipur airport.
