Malappuram: Karipur airport has become the centre of gold smuggling in the state. Gold worth lakhs of rupees brought from abroad was seized from here. One person has been arrested in the incident.
Jafar Sahad, a native of Cherumukk Malappuram was arrested. 1162 grams of gold has also been seized from him. He tried smuggling gold by hiding it inside his body. The mixed gold was made into capsules and hidden in his anus.
The gold was seized during security checks conducted by the customs. The gold was found after a detailed checking. Four capsules were seized from him. Jafar is being interrogated in the incident.
