Chennai: Sri Lanka’s notorious underworld criminal Muhammad Najeem Muhammad Imran has arrived in India. It is informed that he has reached Rameswaram. Following this, the Tamil Nadu police are on high alert.
Mohammad Imran, who is popularly known by the name Kanjippani Imran is a drug dealer who has roots in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The intelligence agencies said that he had entered India after being released on bail from the Sri Lankan police station.
Imran, who is facing legal action in cases of smuggling and murder, was deported to Sri Lanka in 2019 after he was arrested in Dubai. As per the reports of the intelligence agencies, Imran, who has close allies with Pakistan’s Haji Ali region and Sri Lanka’s Guna region, had reached Rameswaram on 25th last month with his companions.
Report says that he had reached Thalai mannar soon after being released from the jail in disguise and later to Rameswaram via boat. The agencies have beefed up the security to catch him. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has not yet given any official statements to India about Imran’s missing.
