Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Ganga Vilas, the world’s longest and most luxurious river water ride, via online. Starting from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, the cruise will travel via Bangladesh to Dibrugarh in Assam. The journey, which will flag off on January 13, will cover nearly 4,000 kilometres in 50 days. The cruise will stop at various heritage sites, national parks and other sanctuaries.
The boat tour starts from Varanasi. Before reaching Kolkata the ship will pass through Gazipur, Buxar and Patna. After that, it will stay for two weeks in different rivers of Bangladesh and from there it will reach Dibrugarh in Assam via Guwahati. The Ganga Vilas cruise ship will also cruise along the banks of the Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers. On 13 January, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag-off the ceremony via online at the jetty boarding point opposite Ravidas Ghat. The cruise ship will visit more than 50 destinations.
The ship has many facilities like music, cultural events, gym, spa etc. Former Assam Chief Minister Sarwananda Sonowal shared a video on Twitter with information related to the cruise ship. The Varanasi district administration has started initial preparations for the flag off ceremony. Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma and District Magistrate S Rajalingam are giving appropriate instructions to the Culture Department, Tourism Department and Inland Water Transport.
