The boat tour starts from Varanasi. Before reaching Kolkata the ship will pass through Gazipur, Buxar and Patna. After that, it will stay for two weeks in different rivers of Bangladesh and from there it will reach Dibrugarh in Assam via Guwahati. The Ganga Vilas cruise ship will also cruise along the banks of the Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers. On 13 January, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag-off the ceremony via online at the jetty boarding point opposite Ravidas Ghat. The cruise ship will visit more than 50 destinations.

The ship has many facilities like music, cultural events, gym, spa etc. Former Assam Chief Minister Sarwananda Sonowal shared a video  on Twitter with information related to the cruise ship. The Varanasi district administration has started initial preparations for the flag off ceremony.
