Joshimath area declared disaster-affected

Uttarakhand: Joshimath, the area where land subsidence occurred and several houses were cracked, has been declared as disaster-prone area. The announcement regarding some of the areas as disaster-affected came based on the recommendations of the experts who had been researching there to identify the reasons of the land slides.

Two teams from the Centre including the experts from the Ministry of Jal Shakthi will visit Joshimath to evaluate the situation.

Geophysical, geotechnical as well as hydrological study will be conducted in the area so as to find out a long term solution.

The State Government has informed that the affected people are getting the necessary help.
