Kochi: The GST department has issued notice to The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists, AMMA. The notice ordered to pay the GST from the year 2017. The department has also inspected the income that AMMA received from programmes including stage shows.
The notice is served to Idavela Babu, the General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists. Though AMMA had imposed GST in the membership fee, why it is not remitting the tax of its main source of income, the stage shows, asks the notice.
AMMA had collected Rs. 6 crores from the stage show held in Thiruvananthapuram in the year 2018. GST checked the account statements regarding this stage show.
Meanwhile, Idavela Babu responded that the GST’s notice is not an intimation that mentions as how much rupees to be paid. However, AMMA has decided to send reply to the GST soon.
