New Delhi : A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Supreme Court demanding leave with pay on menstrual days. The petition was filed by advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi.
The petitioner says that during the time of the menstruation, the girls and women experience severe pain similar to that of a person suffering from a heart attack. To state this, a study report by University College London has been submitted to the Supreme Court.
The petition points out that the productivity of the employee will decrease when the employee suffers from menstrual pain and this will affect the work too. The petitioner also added that a group of companies in the country like Zomato, Swiggy, Byju’s, Magzter, Industry, ARC, FlyMyBiz and Gozoop are providing paid menstrual leave to women.
