Kochi: The Food Safety Authority has informed that the cardamom added in the Aravana prasadam in Sabarimala is not up to the mark. FSSAI, in its report submitted before the High Court today, clarified that around 14 types of pesticides that may cause chronic health problems, were found in the cardamom during the laboratory test.
FSSAI submitted details before the court along with the test result of Kochi Spices Lab. The High Court will inspect the submitted report soon.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India held an enquiry over the quality of the cardamom as per the direction of the High Court.
The court also stated that the use of poor quality cardamom in making the Aravaa cannot be considered as a trivial matter.
