Kochi: Around half ton of decomposed meat was seized from the place that functioned as central kitchen at Kaippadamugal in Kalamasseri. As per the statement of the concerned authorities, majority portion of the meat was completely rotten.
The meat, also known as tsunami meat, was transported from Tamil Nadu. The owner of the firm where the decomposed meat was stored is identified as Junaid, native of Palakkad. The stale meat was stored for distributing to the hotels in Kochi. 150 kg of stale oil was also seized from the firm. The meat was reportedly kept for making shawarma.
The inspection was held by Kalamasseri Corporation’s health squad. The samples of the rotten meat will be checked in detail and stringent action will be taken against the accused, said the authorities
