Kolkata: Income tax department seized more than Rs 10 crores from the house of the Trinamool Congress MLA. The money was seized from TMC MLA Zakir Hussain’s house. The raid was held at his residence in Murshidabad, Kolkata.
The Income Tax Department informed that Rs 10.90 crore was found from the MLA’s house. The Income Tax Department had conducted extensive inspections at 28 locations on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, the party spokesperson responded that the money seized from Hussain’s house was stored for business purposes. Before joining Trinamool, Hussain had a beedi business. It is an industry where workers have to pay their wages directly. Kunal Ghosh also said that the found money might have been stored for that purpose.
