Patna: Former Union Minister and RJD leader Sharath Yadav (75) passed away. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Gurugram last night around 10.30. He was suffering from illness for a long time and was being treated.
Sharath worked as Union Minister, NDA Convenor, JDU Rajya Sabha Party Leader and Janata Dal Parliamentary Party Leader. He was the Minister for Textiles and Food Processing in the VP Singh Cabinet during 1980 -90. He also served as the Minister of Aviation in Vajpayee’s cabinet from 1999-2004.
Sharath, who was the president of the JDU for a long time, left the party in 2017 due to some issues with Nitish Kumar. He later formed the Lok Tantric Janata Dal but in 2018 he joined Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD.
Sharath was born on 1st July1945 in Babe, Madhya Pradesh. He got Graduation in Engineering from Jabalpur College of Engineering. He later did his post-graduate degree in mathematics.
