Malappuram: Pan Masala worth Rs 1.5 crore, which was kept in biscuit packets, has been found from Edappal. It was an attempt to smuggle Pan Masala in the background of a biscuit godown operating in Edappal. The excise team seized about 1.5 lakh pan masala packets.
Ali, Shamir and Ramesh were arrested in the incident. Excise officers arrived at the location when the culprits were trying to unload the drugs at the warehouse in Vattamkulam, Edappal. The drugs were brought to the godown in two lorries. These vehicles have also been seized.
The inspection was conducted by the squad of Excise North Region Commissioner. According to the Excise-Intelligence team, the biggest pan masala hunt in the state has been held in Malappuram.
