Makayiram nal Raghava Varma Raja, Valiya Thampuran of Pandalam palace passes away

Pathanamthitta: Valiya Thampuran of Pandalam palace, Makayiram nal Raghava Varma Raja (90), resident of Kulanada Kaipuzha Managalavilasam palace has passed away. Cremation will occur at Shanti Kavadam, Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, 12:30pm. His demise took place at his daughter’s house in Perunthanni.

He worked as a Divisional Accountant at Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board. He was the son of Ashwathi Thirunal Tanvangi Thampuratti and Iravi Namboothirippad of the Kaippuzha Mangalavilasam palace. He was the president of executive council of Pandalam palace and had representative led the thiruvabharna procession as the king’s representative.

After the death of Valiya Thampuran Thiruvonam Nal Rajaraja Varma, on 20th of June, 2022 Makayiram Nal Raghava Varma Raja took charge. Considering the demise, Pandalam Valiya Kovil temple will remain closed till May 14th 2023.

Valiya Thampuran is survived by his wife, Kochomana Thampuratti of Cherukol palace. Daughter, Renuka Varma and her husband, R Rajeev.
