Pathanamthitta: Vigilance found that the conductors are allowing the passengers to travel by charging low fare instead of paying the actual rate. Last day, in the investigation conducted by the vigilance, the M Panel conductor was caught red-handed and fired from the job for pocketing the money without giving them tickets.
The conductor was caught for charging rupees 100 instead of rupees 113 and for pocketing it from a passenger who travelled from Kannur to Kasaragod . The same reduction was been given for a passenger who traveled from Perumbavoor to Thrissur. The vigilance found that, this activity is being done between the regular passengers and conductors in swift bus departing from southern district.
There is also a huge change in charge for luggage carried in the bus. Bags weighing 15-30 kg is charged half of the owner’s ticket, and for above 30 kg full charge should be paid for the languages. As long as the rule remains, the incident of charging money for the passenger’s luggage without giving them ticket is taking place. This incident happened and caught when a passenger from Pathanamthitta depot to Manguluru were charged for luggage without giving him ticket, the conductor was been warned that day.
The KSRTC vigilance department stated that such incidents are happening regularly and the inspection will be continued.
