Trivandrum: The Artificial Intelligence cameras started their work yesterday, and by that, 28,891 people were caught for traffic violations. Of those, 4776 were from Kollam district.
After Kollam the number of violations caught a follows, Trivandrum -4362, Pathanamthitta- 1177, Alappuzha- 1288, Kottayam- 2194, Idukki- 1483, Ernakulam- 1889,Thrissur- 3995, Palakkad- 1007, Malappuram- 545, Kozhikode- 1550, Wayanad- 1146, Kannur- 2437, and Kasargod has 1040. These counts were taken between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. yesterday.
The first three people who were caught in the AI camera were from Trivandrum; two of them were not wearing their helmets while riding a two-wheeler and the other one was caught for not wearing the seatbelt while riding a four-wheeler. Transport Minister Antony Raju said that the decline in the number of violations is a good sign, even during the peak eight hours on the first day.
So far, notices mentioning the awareness have been sent to violators. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) officials noticed a fault in the software when the challan was sent for the first time, and it was solved in the evening.
Whoever it was, it did not start sending the SMS to the vehicle owners for the violations from the control room. This is because of the delay in obtaining permission by informing the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India about the manner in which the SMS is being sent, and the control room will start sending SMS today.
