The bus owner, Raj Mohan, was physically assaulted by a CITU leader after the union disrupted bus operations by placing their flags on the bus. A video showing the bus owner being slapped in front of police has gone viral on social media.
The assaulted bus owner sought treatment at a hospital. Following an interim order from the High Court, Raj Mohan decided to resume the bus service with police protection.
The bus service had been halted by CITU leaders placing their union flags on the bus.
On Sunday morning at around 6 am, Raj Mohan was physically assaulted by a CITU leader while he was removing the union flag to resume the bus service. The incident occurred in the presence of the police, who were assigned to provide protection by the High Court.
It is reported that KR Ajayi, a CPM district committee member who assaulted the bus owner, has been taken into police custody.
Raj Mohan expressed his disappointment, stating that Kerala, which the Chief Minister claims to be number one, is a place where such acts of goon’s violence occur.
He vowed not to give in to such threats and mentioned his intention to seek justice through the courts. Raj Mohan, an ex-service man, also serves as the vice-president of the BJP’s Kumarakam constituency.
Earlier, after the CITU leaders disrupted bus operations by placing their union flags on bus, the bus owner, started sale of lottery tickets in front of his bus, as a form of protest that went viral on various social media platforms.
