Wayanad : All-rounder Minnu Mani has been rewarded with her first Senior India call-up for the upcoming women’s T20I series against Bangladesh. The 24-year-old cricketer is the only representative from Kerala in the 18-member squad led by Harmanpreet Kaur. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for both the T20I and ODI series against Bangladesh on Sunday.
India the women’s tour of Bangladesh is scheduled to commence with the first T20I at Mirpur on July 9. Minnu Mani’s selection comes as a well-deserved recognition of her talent and consistent performances. In February of this year, she made history by becoming the first player from Kerala to be drafted into the Women’s Premier League. The Delhi Capitals secured her services in a bidding war against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Minnu, who hails from the Kurichia tribe in Kerala, is known for her off-break bowling and left-handed batting skills. Her inclusion in the national squad is a testament to her hard work and determination. Alongside Minnu, the India Women’s T20I squad also features prominent names like Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, and Deepti Sharma.
In addition to the T20I series, the BCCI also announced the ODI squad for the India-Bangladesh series. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team, which includes talented players such as Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, and Jemimah Rodrigues.
