CPI(M) is attempting to bring together Muslim organizations as much as possible, on the issue of the uniform civil code, . Kozhikode is at the focal point of the party’s new policy. It has already been criticized that the party wants to fracture the Muslim League in order to get the most benefit possible in the parliamentary elections by retaining Samastha with it.
CPI(M) is attempting valiantly to manipulate any drama in the parliamentary elections in order to profit as much as possible. That’s why the party is moving forward with such zeal by hiding the facts on the Uniform Civil Code issue.
The CPI(M) has had some success in its efforts to retain as many Muslim organizations as it can. Samastha’s upbeat attitude is one illustration of that. And this also managed to create division in the Muslim League. It remains to be seen who will fall for the CPI(M)’s attempt to use misinformation about the Uniform Civil Code to its political benefit.
Samastha Kerala Jem-Iyyathul Ulama, the organization of Sunni scholars has endorsed CPI(M) in its fight against the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Samastha leader Jifri Muthukoya Thanagal told the media in Kozhikode on Saturday that members of the group will attend the seminar organised by the CPI(M) against UCC.
Meanwhile, UDF is also having trouble with the split in the Muslim League at the moment. K C Venugopal, the general secretary of the AICC, and the head of the opposition, V D Satheesan, claimed that the CPI(M) had ulterior motives for inviting the Muslim League and Samastha to the seminar. Muslim League will be aware of CPI(M)’s aims, K C Venugopal noted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week made a strong push for implementing the UCC by questioning how the nation can run with dual laws that govern personal issues. This sparked a heated political debate about the UCC in the state. PM had spoken in favor of the UCC while addressing BJP supporters in Madhya Pradesh’s election-bound city of Bhopal.
