Thrissur: Theft was reported in Guruvayur temple premises. The theft took place from the bus which was parked in the parking lot on the east side of the temple. Six mobile phones, money and bags of the pilgrims were stolen. The things that were lost belonged to pilgrims who traveled from Salem to visit the Guruvayur shrine.
The bus arrived in Guruvayur at half past five in the morning with 45 passengers. At 7:30 in the morning, the group—which included the kids—went to the temple. The bus staff had fallen asleep inside the bus and the theft happened around this time. The pilgrims came to know about the theft at nine, when they came back from the temple after darshan.
The things were discovered scattered and the bags open. However, no estimate of the amount of missing money has been made. Three bags containing children’s belongings were found missing. Following the incident, a report was made to the temple police. The police launched an investigation under Sub Inspector IS Balakrishnan’s leadership.
