THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: During his farewell speech, DGP Tomin J Thachankary drew a comparison to Karna, a character from the Mahabharata. The retired DGP expressed admiration for Karna, citing him as his favorite character for resisting temptations despite facing numerous humiliations.
In his address, he highlighted instances where, like Karna, he felt sidelined despite his proven abilities. Thachankary was previously in the headlines when Vigilance initiated a probe against him in connection with a bribery case last year. Although the Vigilance later cleared him, the Special Vigilance Court directed a thorough investigation into the matter.
“The character that left a profound impact on me was Karna from the Mahabharata. Despite enduring humiliation and rejection from great warriors, he remained steadfast, staying true to his principles. It is an immortal story,” said Thachankary.
As part of the farewell parade at the SAP camp ground, Thachankary also graced the event with a song performance, much to the delight of the attending police personnel.
This evening, Thachankary will be honored with an official farewell.
