Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department issues warnings of heavy rainfall and high waves along the state’s coastline. Yellow alerts have been sounded in several districts, including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur. The warning extends until September 10.
The Indian Meteorological Department has advised residents to remain vigilant as the state grapples with torrential rains. Over the next three hours, moderate rain is expected in isolated locations across all districts of Kerala. Simultaneously, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre have raised the alarm about the possibility of high waves and storm surges, urging fishermen and coastal dwellers to exercise caution.
As rough seas are predicted to intensify, authorities are strongly recommending people stay away from danger areas. The Centre for Oceanography and Research has underscored the importance of avoiding beach trips and recreational activities in the sea. Additionally, they have urged boat owners to securely moor their vessels in the harbour and maintain a safe distance between boats to prevent the risk of collisions.
