New Delhi: The Ministry od Home Affairs has issued a notice to Congress President Rahul Gandhi asking to clear about his dual citizenship. The notice is issued after Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Subrahmaniam Swamy filed a complaint mentioning that Congress President holds dual citizenship.
Rahul is asked to give explanation within two weeks. The notice shows that Rahul, one of the directors and secretary to the British based company ‘ Backdrops’,has mentioned in office records that he holds British citizenship.
If Rahul has the citizenship of Britain, naturally he cannot have Indian citizenship. India, as per 155 Citizenship Act, does not permit dual citizenship.
