Bhubaneswar: The severe storm Fani made landfall in Odisha this morning. Fani triggered very heavy rainfall in several areas of Puri. Fani also made heavy rains in coastal areas and in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh. High alert has been declared in Andhra, Tamil Nadu and also in West Bengal.
Heavy rain and gusty wind will continue for some more hours in Odisha. India Meteorological Department has informed that a wind with a speed of 175 km has been hitting in Bhubaneswar. Report says Nine metre high sea waves are lashing towards shores.Many trees have been uprooted, power supply has been badly affected.Train services cancelled. Kolkata airport will be closed from 3 pm today. Various houses and other buildings have been submerged in water.

Red alert is declared in 13 districts in Odisha. Around 11 lakh people has been evacuated from the areas. Central Home Ministry’s help line number is 1938. Centre had already announced a sum of Rs. 1086 Cr.for emergency assistance.
