Thrissur: A 43-year-old man attempted suicide at Mala Police Station in Thrissur. He was called to the station following a harassment complaint filed by his wife. The man, identified as Thekiniyat Vinod, from Kuzhur, South Thanisheri, consumed poison while at the police station. He was taken to the police hospital for immediate medical attention.
The incident happened when Vinod and his wife, Siji, were summoned to the police station in response to a complaint filed by Siji. She alleged that Vinod, who had been drunk the previous day, had subjected her to a brutal assault. During the inquiry and questioning, a verbal dispute arose between the couple. It was during this tense moment that Vinod consumed the poison he had in his possession.
The police immediately took him to the hospital. The doctors said that Vinod was out of danger after receiving timely medical treatment.
