Retired Kerala High Court Judge B Kemal Pasha said that it is absurd to claim that Muslim women had to stop wearing the hijab and that their hunger had been curbed because of CPI(M).He said that the left could only create hunger and not eradicate them. He said that Muslims earn money by working hard abroad and the Marxist party has no role in this.
Adv. K. Anil Kumar, a member of the CPI(M) state committee, had claimed that the girls in Malappuram gained the confidence in abandoning stop wearing hijab due to the influence of the Communist Party. The statement, made during a seminar organized by an atheist group, sparked outrage among several political leaders and religious organizations. KT Jaleel came forward pointing out that Anil Kumar’s statement was a personal and incorrect remark. Later, AM Arif MP also supported this view. Samasta (Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama) also came forward, against this.
