Patna: At least four people were killed, and over 100 were injured when a Northeast Superfast train derailed near Buxar in Bihar. The train was travelling from Delhi’s Anand Vihar to Kamakhya in Assam when the accident occurred around 9:35 pm last night. Twelve coaches of the train derailed.
The train derailed near Raghunathpur station, close to Buxar, as confirmed by railway authorities. Subsequent to the incident, passenger and freight trains on this route were rerouted. Ongoing efforts are focused on removing the derailed coaches from the scene. Railway officials have emphasized that their top priority is to restore train traffic in both directions.
Both tracks and several electric pylons and signal posts near the tracks were damaged in the accident. Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that he spoke to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and officials of the National Disaster Response Force. The Railways has informed that a detailed investigation will be conducted and a special team will be appointed for this. The top officials of the railways have already reached the spot last night.
