Thiruvananthapuram: The capital city is struggling with the aftermath of continuous overnight rainfall, leading to widespread flooding in several areas. Roads and low-lying regions in Thiruvananthapuram are submerged as heavy rains persist, causing the overflow of canals in Kazhakutam, Poundukadavu, and Veli sections. The flood has resulted in the relocation of approximately 45 individuals to emergency shelters, and numerous homes were under water. Rescue efforts are currently underway to evacuate residents stranded in their flooded homes.
Low-lying areas of the city, including Thampanoor, Manakkad, Puthanpalam, Ulloor, Vellayani, Eanchakkal, Chakkai, and Petta, are facing severe flooding, disrupting both traffic and the daily lives of residents. Chaka Airport Road and nearby residential zones are also submerged. The flooding has significantly impacted transportation, with roads in various parts of the city becoming impassable. The Amayizhanjan canal is overflowing in multiple areas.
