Ernakulam: The prosecution trial against Asfaq Alam, the accused in the rape and murder of a 5-year-old girl in Aluva, has reached completion. The proceedings are currently underway at the Ernakulam POCSO Court, where a total of 43 witnesses have testified. The prosecution presented a substantial body of evidence, including 95 documents and 10 pieces of evidence after interrogations. Special Public Prosecutor G. Mohanraj has been representing the prosecution in this case that sent shockwaves across the nation.

The tragic incident occurred last July when the accused brutally raped and murdered the innocent 5-year-old girl, who had been playing in her backyard after being offered juice.

Throughout the trial, the court heard testimonies from eyewitnesses who had observed the accused abducting the child, and CCTV footage capturing the accused’s actions was submitted as evidence.
