Kottayam:The Kottayam Police have filed a case against individuals involved in organising a Palestine solidarity rally in Erattupetta. The case was filed against 20 individuals, including the Imam of Puthanpally and the vice chairman of the municipality. This rally has led to the blockage of traffic in the region, as confirmed by the police. The motive behind this action was based on a report by the Superintendent of Police (SP) that identified potential terrorist activities within the Erattupetta area.
The district police chief K. Karthik IPS gave a report to the state police chief against the construction of a revenue tower on the land near Erattupetta police station. In this report, there was a reference to the terrorism issues in the Erattupetta area. According to the report, there are religious problems, terrorism problems and law and order problems in Erattupetta.
Based on this report, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had filed a complaint, calling for the intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and a comprehensive investigation into the matter. N. Hari, the BJP Central Zone President, has corresponded with Amit Shah, seeking a thorough investigation into the activities of anti-national powers that appear to be gaining strength in the Kottayam and Idukki districts.
