Kollam: The long-standing issue of the deplorable condition of the Chathannoor-Paravur-Parippally road is finally seeing a solution. A substantial allocation of RS 22.2 crore from the Central Government Road Fund is dedicated to its renovation and reconstruction.
The Chathannoor-Paravur Road, renovated to a length of seven and a half kilometres, and the Paravur Parippally Road, ten and a half kilometres, are both part of the central development plan.
One of the primary issues plaguing this road has been persistent waterlogging in various areas. To solve this issue, an array of measures is being undertaken, including the construction of Irish drains, culverts, and other essential infrastructure aimed at mitigating waterlogging. The construction of culverts in the Meenad, Nedungola, and Vadakke Mukku areas of the Chathannoor-Paravur road, which previously had severe waterlogging, has reached its final stages, with ongoing work on gutters.
This road development initiative stands as an example of the Central Government’s commitment to fostering the growth of the nation. Commenting on the progress, BJP district president BB Gopakumar asserted that both the Member of Parliament (MP) and the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) are making attempts to obstruct the project. Approximately 20 percent of the road construction work has already been completed. It is expected that upon the project’s full implementation, the face of the area will undergo a significant transformation.
