Palakkad: The High Court is set to examine a plea today concerning the encroachment of Cherpulassery Thootha Bhagavathy Temple land by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI (M)]. Despite the presence of an alternative path to the building constructed by the CPI (M) branch committee near the temple, concerns have been raised about the encroachment on the temple land.
Devotees made attempts to separate the temple land by using a rope. But the CPI (M) destroyed it. The Temple Protection Committee subsequently approached the High Court, seeking legal recourse to address the issue. The committee submitted evidence, including images depicting the path leading to the party’s office through the temple grounds.
The High Court had previously taken measures to stop events, including the inauguration of the party building on temple land. Furthermore, the court issued an order stipulating that the temple land should not be used for the inauguration of the party office. The court emphasised the importance of safeguarding the temple land.
